Edna Marie Evanski was born on Tuesday May 14, 1918 in Hamtramck, MI the third daughter of Stanley Joseph "Steve" and Dorothy Florence "Dora" (Nowak) Iwanski. She was born with the last name Iwanski until her father changed the spelling of their name to fit the English way of spelling it. Her parents, herself and her six month old brother Robert moved to Sumpter Twp. (Belleville, MI) from Detroit when she was six years old. She grew up and resided at 28855 Sherwood Rd. In Sumpter where she attended schools in the Area. Aunt Edna was baptized at St. Florian's Catholic Church in Hamtramck, MI and completed her First Communion in 1929 at St. Stephen's (Her Picture here is her First Communion Picture). She would later complete her Confirmation here also. She helped her mother out around the home. Edna was heading home from a date late one night on Wear Rd. and while driving West on Wear she turned South onto Sherwood Rd. heading home and her car was hit by a oncoming driver that she did not see. Her tragic death saddened everyone and she was terribly missed by her surviving Parents: Stanley & Dorothy Evanski, Siblings: Robert, Richard, James, Dorothy & Beatrice Evanski. Grandmothers: Mary Evanski & Victoria Drazkowska Also numerous Aunts, Uncles, Cousins and Friends. She was buried out of Roberts Brothers Funeral Home in Belleville ( Now Higgerson & Neal)her services took place at 8:00 A.M. on Monday November 23, 1936 at St. Stephen's Church and was buried at St. Stephen's Cemetery In New Boston that day. Later her Parents would both be buried at St. Stephen's Also.

Also although on here it says that Edna & Her Parent's are buried at "Mallett" Cemetery. They are actually buried at St. Stephen's Cemetery the other half of the Cemetery. All of the Left Side of the Cemetery is St. Stephen's and a small portion of the other half is also St. Stephen's. The Part more to the right is Mallett Cemetery which is Maintained by Huron Twp.

Gravesite Details Right as you drive in the Cemetery from the Savage Rd. Entrance you drive straight ahead and just before you turn a right at the first curve Edna is buried right there on the left.
