Charles served as a Private, Company A, Delaware Infantry during the Civil War.

He enlisted in the 1st Delaware on September 2, 1861 for a 3 year term. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being 22 years old, employed as a Cooper, and residing in Wilmington, Delaware.

Charles "Died Of Disease" in Harpers Ferry, Virginia during the war.
