Jack Flovin, 78, Houston, Texas, died Sunday.

He was born July 7, 1920, in Eastland, Texas, to Walter Theo and Helen Margaret Egerhart Flovin. He married Rosemary Ricks of Tecumseh.

He served in the U.S. Navy and the Merchant Marine during World War II. He was a member of the Canterbury United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his wife; two daughters and sons-in-law, Jacquelin Kay and Charles Hawley, California, and Catherine Mary and William Norman, Brenham, Texas; sister Mildred Bates, South Carolina; grandson Lance Cpl. William R. Norman III, Camp Pendleton, Calif.; granddaughter and grandson-in-law, LeAnn and John Luna, Tennessee; and many other relatives and friends.

A graveside service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday at Tecumseh Cemetery, with the Rev. Richard Hamilton officiating. Arrangements are under the direction of Gaskill-Owens Funeral Chapel.

Memorials may be made to the Canterbury United Methodist Church or the American Heart Association.
