Emmett was married to Mildred Louise Knight in 1943 and their son was Charles William "Billy" Parrish.

They were divorced in Dec 1946.

In 1953 he had a Colostomy and prostrate surgery and the doctors gave him five years to live "if" he quit smoking and drinking. He gave up neither but did take pretty good care of himself and proved the doctors wrong.

Ben, Jude, Emmett and Simm all lived on a farm, (now on what is called Knight Road) that was 1/2 mile from T Highway. There is nothing left there now to show there was ever a house standing there.

Emmett then moved to Linn Creek on State Road V about 5 miles from 54 Highway. When he could no longer care for himself, he went to the nursing home in Osage Beach where he lived out the rest of his life. He enjoyed talking with people there and lived for his "afternoon beer" they would give him with the big "aaaahhhh" as he would drink it.
When taken out to lunch by anyone he would be wanting to get back to the nursing home to visit with the friends he had made there. He enjoyed talking with people and had story's to tell.
