Daisy died a little more than a month after the birth of their son, Harry, in 1915. Her death came at the age of 34.
Cornelius worked as a carpenter and later as a salesman in a general store. In 1940, he worked doing road maintenance in Calhoun County.
Cornelius died 9 days before his 69th birthday at the home of his daughter, Julia Iola Schulze.
He was survived by 2 daughters, Julia Iola Schulze of Golden Eagle, and Lillian Mager of Alton; 1 son, Harry Funk of Batchtown; 3 brothers, Ed and Raymond, both of Batchtown, and Carl of Hardin; and 1 sister, Ida Zigrang of Batchtown.
In addition to his wife, Cornelius was preceded in death by 2 infant daughters, Edna and Georgia; and his mother and father.
Visitation was held at Hanks Funeral Home in Hardin. It was continued before the beginning of services at the Batchtown Methodist Church on the morning of 29 Nov 1946. Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. that afternoon at the church.
