Bettie Marie Giese passed from this life peacefully in her sleep on July 20, 2010, at her home in Vancouver, WA. Marie was born April 11, 1935, in Shelley, ID to Angus Young and Esther Elizabeth Dutton Young. She was the youngest of 12 children.
In her youth, Marie was active in her church activities, was the captain of her high school basketball team, sang in her high school opera, and in the summer was a Red-Cross lifeguard.
Marie worked various jobs and went to school to learn bookkeeping. She worked many years as a bookkeeper and office manager and retired from CE John Construction Company in 1997. After her retirement from CE John she continued to work as a bookkeeper for New Hudson Fence Builders.
Marie's greatest joy was spending time
with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Marie was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. We appreciate the prayers and support her church gave to us.
Marie is survived by her daughter, Patri and Jeff Frahler; daughter, Janet and Walt Jones; son, Russ and Annette Bartausky; daughter, Susan Holmes; step-children, Jerry and Mickey Giese, Bonita Richardson, James and Lori Giese; 18 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren; sisters, Lela, Thelma, Faye.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Darci; grandson, David; her parents, Angus and Elizabeth; brothers, Jim, Dow, Ben, Joe; and sisters, Zelda, Alta, Edith, Verda.
There was a memorial service Friday, July 23, 2010, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, Vancouver, Washington. Separate graveside services were held on Monday, July 26, 2010, at Evergreen Memorial Gardens, Vancouver, Washington.
