Donald "Don" Eugene Murray, 81, of Columbia passed away on Wednesday, June 16, 2010, at his home.
Services will be at 3 p.m. Monday, June 21, at Memorial Funeral Home. Burial with military honors will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. until time of services at the funeral home.
Don was born Dec. 13, 1928, in Columbia to Rufus and Mary Ann Watson Murray, and they preceded him in death. He was married on July 17, 1952, in Harrison, Ark., to Phyllis Wade, and she survives.
He attended Hickman High School in Columbia and served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. Don was a member of the Sea Bees, and during his service, he was stationed overseas. Don was a member of Carpenters Union No. 2137, and he worked for several years at Epple Construction and for the University of Missouri until his retirement in 1984. He enjoyed camping, bird hunting and fixing all type of machinery.
Don is survived by five children, Pam Hazlett, Peggy Wood, Patti Coble, Phillip Murray and Penny Pasley, all of Columbia; sister Geri Sapp of Columbia; 16 grandchildren; and 18 great-grandchildren.
