He was born April 1, 1933, in Washington County, Arkansas, the son of Robert Vardeman and Lela Mae (Blevins) Nickell.

He and LuVeta Marie Shores were married October 19, 1957.

He was a U. S. Navy Veteran.

He was predeceased by his parents; three sisters, Faith Hope Wier, Vivian Esther Cline and Bonnie Lee Woodward Smith; three half-brothers, Dewey Delaney Nickell, Lonnie Nickell and Robert MNickell; and a half-sister, Anna Levada Nickell.

Survivors include his wife.

Buried in the Nickell Cemetery near Durham, Arkansas.
