Jacob was born in Bowsherville, Wyandot county, Ohio, son of Henry & Margaret (Dickens) Bowsher. He married Elizabeth C Minter in Marion, Ohio, and they had two daughters, one of whom died in infancy, before Jacob passed away in 1855. Elizabeth later married a Mr. Criswell and moved to Kansas.
