"The death occurred at Seattle, U.S.A., on September 8th of Mr. Oliver Ames Spencer, at the age of 63. Mr. Spencer, who was a retired banker and capitalist, had just finished a game of golf with his wife, when he collapsed and died, the cause of death being heart disease. Mrs. Spencer, who was only married last June, is a step-daughter of the late Mr. W. T. Steer, of Stratford, and granddaughter of the late Captain Cross, who was harbormaster at Nelson, and practically founder of Nelson Harbor."
