Charles Allen Wagoner was known by many names: Charles, Charlie, Daddy, Capt. and Pop were the most prominent. He was born June 10, 1930 in Garland, Texas and passed away on June 4th, 2010 in the home he had lived in for 52 years in Mesquite, TX. He was the only son, with three doting sisters, of R. H. (Hack) Wagoner and Johnnie Dean (Hall) Wagoner. He was a 1948 graduate of Mesquite High School, and a member of the First Baptist Church of Mesquite. He was a Captain in the Dallas Fire Department, and retired after 33 years of service and also served 20 years in the Air Force Reserves. In 1950, Charles married his high school sweetheart JoAnn Miller. He loved and cared for her for 54 years until her death in 2004. They had four sons: Michael Wagoner, M. D. and wife Barbara of Iowa City, Iowa; Patrick Wagoner of Rowlett, TX; Kelly Wagoner of Mesquite, TX; Casey Wagoner and wife Shelly of Crandall, TX. Charles Wagoner was predeceased by his parents; his wife JoAnn Wagoner and his elder sister and brother-in-law Mildred and James Nobles. He is survived by his beloved wife Sue Murdoch-Wagoner and his previously named sons and daughters-in-law; step children Vicki and husband Kevin Judice of the The Woodlands, TX and Jimmy and wife Tibby Murdoch of Del Rio, TX. His loving grandchildren: Justin, Kyle, Molly, Sarah, Jordan, Jonah, Austin, Scott, Catherine, Will, Locket and Jimie Gle. He is also loved and survived by sisters and brother-in-law Ann and George Aubry and Sarah Dean Giacolone; very special family friends Betsy Wagoner and Shannon Wagoner and numerous nieces and nephews and other family and friends. Charles' funeral will be Tuesday June 8, 2010 at 10:00am, Wildwood Baptist Church, 531 S. Walker Mesquite, TX, internment to follow. Family will receive visitors at Laurel Oaks Memorial Park Mesquite, on Monday, June 7, from 6:00 to 8:00pm. The Rev. Denny Burris will be officiating. A special thank you to the doctors, nurses, hospice and healthcare providers, and each person (too numerous to name), who have touched Charles' life during this time. Donations may be given in Charles' name to First United Methodist Church, 100 Spring St. P.O. Box 1234, Del Rio TX 78841 or to Elysian Hospice, Desoto TX.
