Julia had many family members who heeded the call to serve their country in time of conflict. Some paid the ultimate sacrifice--2 brothers served in the Civil War and 1 died; 2 sons served in the Great War (WW I), as well as 1 grandson. Of the 3 young men, 1 died as a result of battle wounds. Julia had at least 5 grandchildren who served in WW II and all survived. In every major conflict since WW II, a descendant of Julia's has proudly served their country, up to and including the Iraq War.
At the time of Julia's death, she and her husband, Dife, were living in McCoy's Bottom in the community of Blackwell Stand, Henry County. Raisor family history still remembers Julia's longing wish to be buried in a church cemetery. Her husband's uncle, Samuel Abraham Raisor, 1822-1898, was buried in Union Church Cemetery. Upon her death in 1917, Julia's wish was granted and she was laid to rest on his plat.
