James T. Urquhart, 62, pioneer Yakima druggist, died last night in his home in the Parker Heights District after an illness of several months. Born in The Dalles, Oregon, Mr. Urquhart spent his boyhood there.

Upon his graduation from the University of Washington in 1900 he came to Yakima and purchased a drug store at Yakima Avenue and Second Street. Later he left to become state drug inspector and then went to Alaska where he spent several years. Upon returning to Yakima he repurchased the drug store here which became the Pioneer Drug C. He continued to operate it until 1940.

Upon retiring from business Mr. Urquhart served for one year as local representative of the state department of labor and industries. Members of the family are the widow, Mrs. Della Urquhart, former national Republican committeewoman; two stepchildren, Mrs. T. J. Schott of Yakima and Lt. jack J. Callahan, surgeon on a navy ship; two sisters, Mrs. Irene Cook of Portland and Mrs. Walter Dabney of Huntington Beach, California.

Mr. Urquhart was a member and former trustee of the Yakima Elks Lodge and a member of the Yakima Masonic Lodge. he was formerly active in the Lions Club and the Shrine. Shaw & Sons has charge of arrangements.
