Mr. Shively was a kind neighbor and friend to all and was always ready, willing to help anyone in need and will be greatly missed by all who knew him and especially will be missed in the home of his family. He was a father who dearly loved his family and always was accompanied by several of the little ones won going away from home. A few days before his death. He told Mrs. Shively, he would be better by the end of the week and that she should go way and get the children. Easter baskets, as was their custom on all special occasions. Nothing was too much trouble for him when it brought joy to his family. While Mr. Sheibley did not live to see his family enjoy the Easter joys. Mrs. Sheibley carried out his wishes.
Jacob L.Sheibley, was the second son of the late Hon. D. H. And Matilda (Boger) Sheibley and was born in Spring Township, January 21, 1876 and died March 29, 1923, page 47 years a 2 months, & 7 days. And politics Mr. Shively was a staunch Democrat, and at the time of his death was a school director, and also a director of the Landisburg bank and a member of the Mount Dempsey Lodge of Odd Fellows. On January 24, 1908, he was united in marriage to Mabel, only daughter of the late Scott W. and Sarah Leightner, by the Rev. HW Whistler, who is Pastor of the Sulfur Springs Reform charge, the ceremony taking place in Carlisle. To this union were born the following children; David H., Sarah Matilda, Emma Spotts, Mary Katherine, Maria Louise, Ruby Lenore, Elizabeth Ann, and two died in infancy. He is also survived by one brother, Charles S. Sheibley, of Dawson, Iowa, and one sister, Mrs. H. B.Rhinesmith of the Bloomfield.
The funeral will be held from his late home Monday afternoon, with burial in St. Peter's church yard, the service is being conducted by Rev. H. G. Snyder, assisted by Rev. Roy Leinbach, of Carlisle, with services at the grave by the Odd Fellows, Charles Kell, funeral director. Pallbearers; M. R. Bower, David G. Bolze, Frank Hubler, David Duncan, Charles A. Spotts and Amos Dum.
