On April 11, 1941, in Amsterdam, Ohio, Floyd married Pauline "Polly" Mildred Fisher, of Orrville, Ohio, daughter of Paul W. and (Lola) Mildred Olin Fisher.
After serving in the U. S. Army Air Corps from 1942-1945, Floyd returned to the J. M. Smucker Company. From 1946 to 1955, he was office manager of the company's Wenatchee, Washington plant. Floyd and Polly returned to Orrville, Ohio, with their family in 1955 and lived there until 2007. When he retired from Smucker's in 1982, he was manager of accounts payable and the company honored him for his forty-three years of service.
Floyd was an active member of the East Chippewa Church of the Brethren, serving as church treasurer, teacher of an adult Sunday school class, and choir member. A devoted husband and father, Floyd was known as a friendly, helpful person. He enjoyed visiting with extended family and friends, bowling, playing euchre, and golfing.
Floyd Snyder, 88, passed away peacefully at 11:00 p.m., Monday, October 8, 2007, at the Smithville Western Care Center, Wooster, Ohio. Auble Funeral Home in Orrville was in charge of arrangements. Funeral services were held at East Chippewa Church of the Brethren, 7207 Chippewa Road, Orrville, Ohio, at 11:00 a.m., Friday, October 12, 2007. Following the graveside service at the church cemetery, a fellowship meal was available. At that time, family members and friends shared stories and their remembrances of Floyd, in celebration of his life.
