Elijah Bouldin, a full-blooded Choctaw Indian, led a busy and colorful life as a prominent land owner, founder of a church still in existence today, was married three times, and fathered 18 children.

Elijah is remembered by DeKalb County, Alabama historians as a forefather, along with others, who founded the Presbyterian Baptist Church of Christ in 1835, in Head Springs of DeKalb County, Alabama. Elijah deeded the 1-acre land the church sits on and the church building to the church and its successor's in 1853. The church's original doctrine is still adhered to today, in 1986, 133-years later. Many of the "Bouldin" and "Brown" ancestors are buried at the church site, "Head Springs Cemetery."

Died in Sulphur Springs, DeKalb, Alabama and is buried in Head Springs Cemetery.

Elijah married Irene S Kilgore in 1835 (Warren, Tennessee) and had the following children with her: Rueben (1838), Eunice (1839), George Washington (1840), Margaret Irene (1841), Enoch (1843), Nancy Clementine "Cyrene" (1845), Sarah Jane (1846), Nathan Poe (1848), Mary S (1849), Polly Ann (1852), and Martha Elizabeth (1854).

Elijah married Effie Emaline Hill December 21, 1854 in DeKalb, Alabama and had the following children: Elijah Jackson Jr (1859), Miranda Frances (1861), John Franklin (1863), Abraham Lincoln (1867), Union American (1865/1869), William Gran (1872), and Effie Emiline (1875).

Elijah married Mariah Adaline Smith August 3, 1876 in DeKalb, Alabama. There were 6 children born to this union. However, their accounts are not listed due to the clan disowning them and their mother. Legend has it that Mariah poisoned and killed Elijah. He died at the age of 73 1/2 years old on February 27, 1885. The clan does not recognize or discuss this group of children or their mother. So currently, their names are not known.

He left to his children 20- acres or more of land, a prominent name in their community, convictions, and a legacy- having been part of Alabama's historic pioneering and Civil War days. He was a prominent land owner, founder of a church still in existence today, was married three times, and fathered roughly 18 children.

He had two sons that fought on opposite sides during the Civil War. Both were killed in the war and then buried together at Head Springs Cemetery.
