COOKEVILLE -- Funeral services for Martin M. Rector, 82, of Cookeville will be held Saturday, Nov. 24, at 2 p.m. from the chapel of Whitson Funeral Home.
Burial will be in Dodson Branch Cemetery.
The family will receive friends today from 5-9 p.m. and Saturday, Nov. 24, from 7 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home.
Mr. Rector died Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2007, at his residence.
He was born Nov. 16, 1925, in Jackson County to the late Jessie and Jane Haney Rector.
Mr. Rector worked for Jackson County as a custodian. He was a member of Dodson Branch Freewill Baptist Church. He enjoyed going to church, listening to gospel music, making traps, building birdhouses, drinking coffee with his buddies and watching wrestling.
His family includes his wife, Julia (Joyce) Rector of Cookeville; a son and daughter-in-law, Donny and Teresa Rector of Cookeville; two daughters and a son-in-law, Josephine Carmack of Gainesboro and Wilma and Donald Mabe of Livingston; five grandchildren, Jennifer Gentry, Shannon Millsaps, Amy Shouse, Eric Carmack and Jeremy Rector; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Mr. Rector was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Larry Carmack; a brother, Lee Rector; and four sisters, Emer Rector, Sitha Allen, Ida Beuhl and Etta Mae Smith.
Pallbearers will be Jeremy Rector, Eric Cormack, Tracy and Tyler Millsaps, Dow Gentry and Charles Nelson.
Bros. Frank Davis, Jeff Short and Jason Lewis will officiate the services.
