Death of Squire Gentry.
Squire Charles W. Gentry died at his home in this city Thu morning. He was one of the best known men in the country, having been county surveyor for many years, also a magistrate for quite a number of years. He was probably the last surviving son of a revolutionary soldier in this section, if not in the entire state. His father was Colonel Richard Gentry, who fought throughout the War of Independence on the staff of Gen. Nathaniel Green. His older brother, Col. Richard Gentry, was killed at the head of his regiment at the battle of Okechobe while leading his command against the Seminoles on Christmas day, 1837. He was the last of twelve brothers and four sisters. Funeral services were conducted from the home on Friday morning and interment took place in Spring Hill cemetery. He was 77 years of age and leaves a wife and six children.
