Business man, politician, community leader. Squire Angier was a leading person in the founding and development of Durham, North Carolina. He owned a store as the Town of Durham began to grow. He became a founded, with his Son in Law Benjamin Duke, of the Fidelity Bank. He helped survey the original streets of the city. Was a advocate, with Washington Duke, of Durham County becoming separate from Orange County. He served on the Durham Town Commission and was Mayor for three terms. As a Methodist he assisted in the movement to Durham of Trinity College. It is now Duke University, A memorial bust is on the front lawn of the Court House.
