Edith Fisher Styles
Edith Styles, 97, of Waynesville, passed away Thursday, Feb. 9, 2006, at Autumn Care Nursing Home in Waynesville. She was born on November 15, 1908, to the late James and Alice Leopard Fisher.
She retired from Haywood County Hospital where she worked for 30 years in the nursery. She was a lifetime member of First Baptist Church of Waynesville where she sang with the Primetime Singers. She loved gardening, riding her lawn mower and she raised African violets. She enjoyed canning, quilting and crocheting. At the age of 85, she rode a motorcycle. She loved rocking and singing to babies. She was always there to assist her family and neighbors when they were sick.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Andrew Clyde Styles, who passed away in 1971; son, Kenneth Styles; infant son Jimmy Styles; seven brothers; and one sister.

She is survived by two daughters, Elizabeth Chambers and her husband, Ted, of Iron Duff and Nancy Wright of Waynesville; five grandchildren, Douglas Styles and his wife, Keri, of Titusville, Fla., David Styles and his wife, Cathy, of Titusville, Fla., Debbie Beasley and her husband, Malcolm, of Waynesville, Jerry Nichols and his wife, Sandy, of Waynesville and Renee Liner of Black Mountain; a special grandchild, Margie Hightower-Green of Charlotte; a special nephew, Sam Styles of Lake Junaluska; several nieces and nephews; seven great-grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

The funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Garrett Funerals and Cremations with the Rev. Eddie Deitz officiating. The family will receive friends two hours prior to the service at the funeral home. At other times, the family will be at 64 Friendship Circle in Waynesville.

Burial will be in Green Hill Cemetery. Sam Styles, Patrick Nichols, Josh Nichols, Jody Nichols, Cecil Hightower and Joe Chambers will serve as pallbearers.
