He came to Sutton, Nebr., with his parents when a small boy and lived in this area most of his life.
Mr. Patton was an engineer for the Burlington railroad for many years and an employee of the same company about 49 years. Ne retired from the railroad service May 1, 1934.
He leaves to mourn his departure, his wife; six sons, Emmett of Lincoln, Irwin of Fairmont, Willis and Evert of Fort Morgan, Colorado; Dwight and Stewart of Lincoln; two daughters, Faye Yunek and Mable Palmer of Denver; three brothers, Will E. of Denver, Walter C. of Wymore and Thomas A. of Fairmont; two sisters Mrs. C.V. Allen of Beatrice and Mrs. Paul Leuke of Niles, Michigan; 11 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren; also a host of other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were held Sunday afternoon at 2:00 o'clock from the Kritner Funeral Home with Rev. E.R. King, pastor of the Federated church in charge. Oliver Moul sang a solo, "Life's Railway to Heaven," and a quartet comprising Mrs. Charles Little, Mrs. W.R. Dorrance, Oliver Moul and Sidney Atwood Jr., sang "Going Down the Valley," with Mrs. A.A. Ashby as accompanist. Pallbearers were: Emmet, Irvin, Evert, Willis, Dwight and Stewart Patton. Interment was in the Fairmont cemetery.
