Rev. Billy was the son of Peggy [Stevenson] and Walter McChesney, Jr, and the husband of Sarah [Nash] McChesney. They had seven children -- four daughters and three sons.

Rev. Billy McChesney was born in 1812. He was baptized into the fellowship of Donaldson church by J. W. Mansfield in 1841. About 1843 "he moved his membership to Clear Spring church, in Crittenden county, where he was licensed to preach in 1847 and ordained by William Hall, J. W. Mansfield, Gabriel Sisk and J. E. Grace in 1852.

Reverend William A. McChesney performed the wedding ceremony of his sister, Sally McChesney Sept. 26 1850 to Benjamin S. Fox, Kentucky Pioneers and Decendents. He was pastor of several churches at different periods within the bounds of Little River and Little Bethel Associations.

He was "a good man, and full of zeal and faith, and the Lord wrought a good work by him." A History of Kentucky Baptists by J. H. Spencer Volume II, 1885.
