Marian Therese Maloney, of Salt Lake City, Utah, died May 25, 2009 after a long, loving and giving life.

She was born at Judge Mercy Hospital in Salt Lake City on March 23, 1915 to Patrick and Catherine (Hession) Maloney.

Marian was a graduate of Judge Memorial Catholic High School. She was ahead of her time in the workforce holding positions at companies in Utah and California. While working for the National Committee for Aeronautics (later NASA) she received the original wire officially noting the sound barrier had been broken. Marian retired after many years of working devotedly, with a deep love for the Catholic Church.

She had a thirst for knowledge, loved reading and keeping up on current events. Marian's life was one of love, care, and service. She found her true joy in children. She taught many to dance the Irish jig and was often asked to perform it at social functions. Marian touched the lives of many people and will be dearly missed.

Survived by sister, Katherine (Eugene) Estrade of Sunnyvale, CA, brother, James Frances (Elizabeth) Maloney of Chelelis, WA and many nieces and nephews. Preceded in death by her parents, Patrick and Catherine Maloney, sister Sarah (George) Cronin, and brother Lawrence (Charlotte) Maloney.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10:00 a.m. in the Cathedral of the Madeleine, 331 East South Temple Street.
Committal: Mount Calvary Catholic Cemetery, 4th Avenue and T Street.
