Donna Louise Bowman (Gouger), age 64, passed away peacefully in her sleep at her home in Edgerton, Kan., on July 12, 2010, after many years of dealing with heart disease and diabetes.
Donna formerly lived in Fort Walton Beach, Fla., for 25 years but wanted to be closer to her only daughter and grandson and moved to Kansas last December. She was preceded in death by her parents, Edmund Gouger and Elizabeth "Betty" Gouger (Schoonmaker) of Forestport, N.Y. Survivors include her daughter, Betty Jo Gordon (Bowman) and her son-in-law Leroy "Charles" Gordon; her "pride and joy" grandson, Garrett Cole Gordon of Edgerton; and her brother, Edward Gouger of Booneville, N.Y.
Donna enlisted into the Air Force shortly after graduating from Forestport High School and her first assignment took her to Germany, where she met her former husband, Henry Bowman of Colorado Springs. Donna loved serving in the military and retired from civil service at Eglin Air Force Base in 2007. In retirement, Donna loved going to the casinos, playing cards, BINGO, Yatzee and attending craft shows with her family. She approached life being thankful for every day.
Donna was a wonderful mother, grandmother, sister and friend. She valued and loved everyone in her life to include her animals, friends, neighbors and family (especially her grandson, Garrett). She loved watching the birds and squirrels through the window. Donna loved flowers and knickknacks (anything she could dust). She had a love for any detective show, Yankee's baseball and The View. Donna will forever be remembered by her family and friends as loving the season of Christmas! She spoke often of her days traveling in Germany and her childhood memories of her home in Forestport. Donna was a member of the Eastern Stars and Rebekahs of New York.
She will be dearly missed.
