Mr. James William Parker, 89, of Dalton, was reunited with the love of his life, his beloved Mary Annie, on Friday evening, Jan. 31, 2014, at the local hospital surrounded by his loving family.
James was born Aug. 24, 1924, in Jasper, a son of the late Lindsay Sherman and Ophelia Jane Simmons Parker. He was also preceded in death by wife, Mary Annie Cagle Parker on June 1987; his sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Mildred Mullinax, Henry Ford Neighbors and Robert and Flondell Cagle.
James was retired from Dalton Utilities where he worked for more than 29 years. He attended Eleventh Avenue Baptist Church.
He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Shelia and Ronnie Gaddis of Dalton; granddaughters, Melody and Bill Jaggar, Julie and Daniel Premo; great-grandson, Fox Harrison Premo, all of Atlanta; sister, Inez Neighbors of Dalton; brother-in-law, Don Mullinax of Jasper; nieces and nephews, Teresa Neighbors, Charles Cagle, Donna and David Johnson, Kim Anderson, Jimmy and Kathy Cagle; special friend, Shirley Richards; and his close and constant companions, Bentley and Baron; other relatives and friends.
Services to celebrate the life of Mr. James William Parker will be Monday at 2 p.m. at Dalton First Baptist Church, 311 N. Thornton Ave., with Dr. Bill Jaggar, the Rev. Phillip Cannon and the Rev. Ronald Guffey officiating.
He will be laid to rest beside his beloved wife at the West Hill Cemetery with David Johnson, Jimmy Cagle, Ben Gilleland, David Bruce, Tom Hulsey, Jonathan Arthur, Patrick Arthur and Daniel Johnson serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers will be Stanley Morris, James Morris, Troy Morris, Derrick Callahan, J.W. Herndon, Scott Hammock, Eric Lewallen and Scott Lance.
