R. Wayne Arnote, 89, of Champaign passed away at 5 p.m. Friday (July 16, 2010) at Carle Foundation Hospital, Urbana.
He was born on Sept. 27, 1920 in Richmond, Mo. to Allen and Donna Switzer Arnote. He married Shirley Herman on Dec. 25, 1945 in Olathe, Kansas. She preceded him in death on Oct. 28, 2009. He was also preceded in death by his parents and a sister, Mary Lou Leslie.
Surviving are two daughters, Bari Arnote of Champaign and Jan Arnote of Chicago; one niece, Donna Leslie of California and one nephew, Kimbrough (Denice) Leslie of Clovis, California.
He served in the U.S. Army Air Forces, stationed in the Aleutian Islands during World War II.
