MUSCATINE, Iowa – Reba A. Ratel, 92, of Muscatine, died Friday, April 18, 2008, at Bickford Cottage.

Funeral Service will be 11 am Saturday, April 26, 2008, at the Ralph J. Wittich-Riley-Freers Funeral Home. Reverend Don Swanson of First Baptist Church will officiate. Honorary bearers will be Karl Reichert, Russell Auliff, Ryan Brookhart and Rebecca Reichert. Casket bearers will be Greg Lamb, Pat Lamb, Allan Jorgensen, Melissa Brookhart, Nathan Reichert, Bryan Auliff, Fredrick Auliff, Patrick Auliff, and Gayle Jarvis. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery.

Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. on Friday, April 25, 2008, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the family in care of Linda Reichert and will be used towards the purchase of a magnifier reader for residents of Bickford Cottage with macular degeneration.

Reba was born on November 2, 1915, in Muscatine, the daughter of Arthur Garfield and Ella Duge Eis. She married Joseph A. Ratel on December 19, 1942, in Trenton, Missouri. He preceded her in death on December 24, 1993.

She and her husband worked as domestic caretakers for Mr. and Mrs. Robert S. Jackson for 43 years. She also worked as a seamstress.
She was an active member of the First Baptist Church and a long time member of the Reapers Sunday School class.

She enjoyed knitting, sewing, baking, and gardening. She loved her family and friends, often bringing them treats from her kitchen and flowers from her garden. She was well known for her ''Sticky Buns'' and homemade pies. Her green thumb produced beautiful roses, amaryllis, and sweet peas. Her great great-nieces and nephews were her pride and joys. She loved dogs, having lots of four legged friends.

Survivors include a niece, Linda Reichert and husband, Karl, of Muscatine, and their family, Melissa Brookhart and husband, Commander Ryan Brookhart, and Nathan Reichert and wife, Rebecca, and a nephew, Russell Auliff and wife, Mary Jo, of Le Claire, and their family, Bryan Auliff and wife, Melissa, Fredrick Auliff and wife, Marcia, and J. Patrick Auliff; great great-nieces and nephews, Olivia and Elaina Brookhart, Simon and Spencer Reichert, and Hunter and Megan Auliff.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, and two sisters, Elna S. Eis and Coryne M. Auliff.
