Joseph and Mary were married 31 Jan. 1828 at the Church of St. Martin's in Birmingham, England. Joseph was 23 and Mary was 25. They immigrated about 1830, leaving Liverpool and arriving in New York. Their first child was Martha Ann who married John Davis in May 1851; second child was Mary Pickering who married in June 1852 to William Wheeler and moved to WI; third child was William Fletcher born in 1832 and died at 2 years; fourth child was John Wesley b in 1834; fifth child was William Bramwell (Bram) born Dec. 1836; third daughter Eliza Dean (Lida) was born March 1838; In 1840 Ellen Louella (Nellie) was born; 1842 Walter Henry was born and in 1844 Juliet Felicia was born. In 1839 Joseph took out naturalization papers in Ohio and became a citizen. In the fall of 1846 the family moved to WI. In October of 1850, Joseph and Mary moved to Boone County, IL. On December 16, 1852, Joseph bought a 40 acre farm in Wheaton, IL. Mary Dean Powell died in Wheaton, IL on 12 March 1870 and Joseph died 28 December 1870.
