DOTTIE BIRD VENABLE, 67, died Monday of cancer at her home in Carlsbad. Born in Bay Minette, Ala., Mrs. Venable lived in Hemet 13 years. She was a secretary to the chief of police in Carlsbad for 29 years.
Mrs. Venable is survived by three daughters, Janet of Hopland, Pamela of Carlsbad and Lynn of San Diego; six grandchildren; a great-grandchild; two brothers, Jim Hover of Mississippi and Tim Hover of New Jersey; and a sister, Elaine Scott of Mississippi.
Memorial services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday at Army Navy Academy Chapel in Carlsbad. Inurnment will be private. Accu-Care Cremation Center in Carlsbad is handling arrangements.
