Lorraine Viola Plett, 84, of Mondovi, died Monday, Oct. 22, 2007 at Sacred Heart Hospital.

She was born on Feb. 11, 1923, at home in the town of Dover (Lookout), Buffalo County, to the late Myron and Mabel (Huff) Winsand. She attended Gilmanton Schools, graduating from Gilmanton Hight School with the class of 1941.

On June 17, 1944, she was united in marriage to Harlan Plett at the Lutheran church in Strum. A long-time faithful member of Trinity Lutheran Church of Gilmanton, she served on the various offices. She also enjoyed quilting with the ladies of the church, and was also a very active and proud member of the Gilmanton Legion Auxiliary, Unit #264. She would honorably make lap robes for the veterans at the VA hospital facilities at the Twin Cities and Tomah. She loved making afghans, quilts and dish towels, especially for her family. Those who knew Lorraine will remember her for wonderful homemade cookies, a witty sense of humor, and a strong faith for her Lord and Savior.

She will be sadly missed by her four loving children, Barb (Don) Barkley-Ellington of Altoona, Sharon (Rod) Landsworth of Rochester, Minn., Mary (Neil) Segestrom of Mondovi, Jim (Nancy)Plett of Menomonie; five special grandchildren, Melissa (John) Kleven, Justin Barkley, Katie (Dave) Rodgers, Becky (Randy) Paape, Jon (Danielle) Plett; two precious great-grandchildren Dannie Rodgers and Devin Plett; many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Harlan on Sept. 4, 1990; three brothers Leslie, Mike and Roger Winsand.

Funeral SErvices were held at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Oct. 26 at Trnity Lutheran Church of Gilmanton. Burial was in the Gilmanton Cemetery.
