ASHTABULA — Norman D. Allds, age 88, of Valley St., Ashtabula, Ohio, died Saturday, June 19, 2010, at his home.

He was born July 9, 1921, in Conneaut, Ohio, the son of Jay A. and Bessie (Schyder) Allds and has been a lifetime area resident. He was a Veteran of the U.S. Army, serving during World War II in the European Theater of Operations.

Retiring in 1985, Norman was employed with the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers.

He is a member of Rising Sun Lodge #22 F & AM; and a member of BPOE #208.

Norman enjoyed playing the piano and keyboard. And in his younger years, he played along with his wife in the "Ohio Ramblers". He called square dances at Jewels Dance Hall for over 40 years.

He enjoyed collecting model trains and showing them to the neighbor children, scouting groups and church groups.

Surviving him is a son, David A, Allds of Joelton, Tenn.; a daughter-in-law, Penny J. (Johnson) Allds of Joelton, Tenn.; three grandsons, Shawn P.A. Allds, Joshua E. Allds and Samuel A. Allds; a sister, Alice B. Amsden of Ashtabula; and a brother, Raymond A. Allds of Ashtabula.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Hazel E. Allds in 1985; a brother, William W. Allds; and a sister in infancy, Marian Allds.

Funeral Services will be 11 a.m., Friday, June 25th, at the Ashtabula Home of FLEMING & BILLMAN FUNERAL DIRECTORS, INC., 526 W. Prospect Road, Ashtabula, with the Rev. Dr. Stephen Long, of the First Presbyterian Church, officiating. Burial will be in Ridgeview Cemetery.

Calling Hours will be Thursday, June 24th, from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Funeral Home, with a Masonic Service at 7:45 p.m.
