COOKEVILLE -- Funeral services for Aaron David Hall, 69, of Cookeville, were held at 1 p.m. today, Monday, Nov. 26, from the Cookeville Chapel of Hooper-Huddleston & Horner Funeral Home and Cremation Services. Burial was in Crest Lawn Memorial Cemetery.
Mr. Hall died unexpectedly Wednesday, Nov. 21, 2007, in Satellite Beach, Fla.
He was born Jan. 7, 1938, in Putnam County to the late Alva and Betsy Stamps Hall.
Mr. Hall was a loving husband, first to Gaynell Bohannon, who died in 1986, then to Mary Johnson, whom he married on March 31, 1989, in Gatlinburg. He was a member of Eastwood Baptist Church and was attending Cookeville First Baptist Church.
He was a generous and compassionate father and leaves his two daughters to carry on his memory. He learned to run a grocery store in his early years at Alva Hall's Grocery store and went on to operate two Big Star stores in Cookeville. Mr. Hall retired in 1985 and was active in building and real estate since that time.
He was happiest sitting on his porch in the mountains, overlooking the city lights of Cookeville. Mr. Hall also enjoyed walking on the beach in Melbourne, Fla., where he vacationed since 1960. He was a loving caretaker for many family members and will be especially missed by his grandchildren, stepdaughter, Beth Thaxton Swafford, stepson, Brian Thaxton, and his aunt, Mabel White.
In addition to his wife, his family includes two daughters and sons-in-law, Dianne and Ben Howe of Wilmington, N.C., and Lisa-Gaye Hall and Mike Congleton of Asheville, N.C.; a stepdaughter and stepson-in-law, Beth Thaxton and Roger Swafford of Cookeville; stepson and stepdaughter-in-law, Brian and Pam Thaxton of Greensboro, N.C.; two brothers, Tom and Lovell Hall, both of Cookeville; six grandchildren, Aaron Bradley Wallace, Halsey and Zada Congleton, Tommy and Tyler Ferree and Katie Swafford; two aunts, Mabel White and Nellie Nichols, both of Cookeville; and an uncle, U.A. Hall of Cookeville.
In addition to his parents and first wife, he was preceded in death by his sister, Magdeline Hall.
Pallbearers were family and friends. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Assoc., the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, or the Breast Cancer Foundation, by contacting the funeral home.

Rev. Carles Walker officiated the services.
