Mary Ann was the daughter of William A. McCoy and Hannah A. Dixon, both of North Carolina. She was born in Putnam, Tennessee and died in West Frankfort, Illinois.
Mary Ann was the wife of Sidney Dearing.

They were blessed with at least 11 children. Two died before 1900. The following are 6 of their children that were still living in 1900: John b. 1880; Walter b. 1881; Benjamin H. b. 1888; Charley b. 1891; Bessie b. 1893; and America b. 1897.

Her husband, Sidney, and several of her children are buried in Pleasant Valley.
