Clifford E. Buckles, age 86, of Palatka, died Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at Putnam Community Medical Center. He was a native of Barberville and had lived in Palatka since 1950, coming from DeLeon Springs. He was a graduate of Pierson High School and was an Army/Air Force veteran of World War II.

He co-owned and operated with his brothers Palatka Welding beginning in 1952 and later assumed ownership for several years until his retirement in 1985. He loved his children and grandchildren very much and enjoyed hunting and fishing and especially enjoyed making cast nets for many in the community.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Hazel Buckles, granddaughter, Mandee DeLoach, brother, Howard R. Buckles and a sister, Edna Baker.

He is survived by a daughter, Ginger DeLoach & husband, Danny of Hollister; sons, John W. "Joey" Buckles & wife, Linda of Palm Coast and Gene Buckles of St. Petersburg Beach; sisters, Ruth Tuttle of Interlachen, Florence Adams of Port Orange and Grace Gregory of DeLeon Springs; brother, Leon Buckles of Interlachen; eight grandchildren, Mary Kaye Wells & husband, Donnie, Mike DeLoach & wife, Dana, Gator DeLoach & wife, Jennifer, Kassidee Thomas & husband, Jared, Cliff DeLoach, Wesley Buckles & wife, Suzanne, Kelly Flynn & husband, Thomas, and Stacey Brooks & husband, Shan; 15 great-grandchildren, Dillon Wells, Mandee Wells, Micheal DeLoach, Dalton DeLoach, Layton DeLoach, Mason DeLoach, Kynlee Thomas, Kayleigh Tilton, Ryan Collier, Weslyn Flynn, Sara Flynn, Alexis Brooks, Bailey Brooks, Taylor Buckles, and Lane Buckles; and a special friend, Vonya Beggs.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 A.M. today (Saturday July 17th) at the Johnson-Overturf Funeral Home in Palatka with Rev. Larry Litzell officiating. Burial will follow in Westview Cemetery in Palatka. Calling hours were held Friday from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. at Johnson-Overturf Funeral Home in Palatka.
