His first Pastorate was at Narcissa, (near Miami) then in 1949 he took the First Baptist Church, Chouteau, where he pastored for the next 24 years until he retired. After that he was part time (Sunday and Wednesday) at Spavinaw Baptist Church (Spavinaw) then Carr Baptist Church, near Grove, OK and then back to Spavinaw. He finally "retired" when he was 80 but continued to preach funerals until he died. The last one he conducted was about 6 weeks before he died at the age of 88.
