Beloved father and uncle, younger brother of Oscar, "Hook" was one of Philadelphia's best known amateur basketball players in the early 1940s: All-City guard, 1943, at Overbrook HS, with a scholarship to Toledo U, where he played for some two years, after Army service. Also in 1943, he was working at Lit Bros. dept store,
and was 5', 8," 145 lbs; brown hair & eyes, with a dark complexion.
He was also an accomplished, competitive tennis player well past the age of 70. An insurance salesman and later a deli owner, Paul also served as the longtime president of Phila.'s B'nai Brith Sports Lodge. In World War II he served in the Philippines. Husband of Mollie, then Carolyn; father of Mitchell and Todd; grandfather of Josh, Trevor and Olivia.
