Floyd Halvorson, Ojibwa soldier, met death May 2nd during the progressing stages in occupancy of Okinawa Islands, while serving with our army in that invasion. Such is word gained here Monday by this soldier's sister, Mrs. Lawrence Barnaby, when official notification was sent by War Department to Floyd's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Halverson, who are at Madison. Other details of this sad information are lacking.

Word has been received here that the body of Pfc Floyd Ordell Halverson, who made the supreme sacrifice at Okinawa on May 2, 1945, will arrive in Ladysmith on Wednesday, May 11, at 4:45AM. Funeral services will be held at the Exeland Lutheran Church on Thursday, at 2PM, and interment will take place in the Exeland cemetery. The American Legion Post of Exeland will conduct a full military funeral. Floyd was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Henry Halverson, formerly of Ojibwa.

Final military rites were conducted at Exeland on Thursday, May 12, for Pfc. Floyd Ordell Halverson, youngest son of Mrs. Henry Halverson of Park Falls.
Floyd was born on April 24, 1923, and made the Supreme Sacrifice on Okinawa on May 2, 1945.
He entered the service of his country on February 11, 1943, and saw service at Guam, Leyte, Iwo Jima, Saipan, Solomon Islands, and Okinawa.
