Catharine, a daughter of Christian and Elizabeth (Zirkle) Airhart, was born in Virginia on Apr. 23, 1805. She married Henry Bowman in that state on Dec. 13, 1821. Their family moved from Augusta County, Virginia to Jefferson Township, Boone County, Indiana in 1832. They were the parents of seven children with Elizabeth, Nancy, Sarah and John C. born in Virginia and Mary, William H. and Rebecca born after the move to Indiana.
