The deceased who was 81 years of age, was one of the oldest and most widely known citizens of this parish and of Homer, where he has spent his entire life.
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday morning at 9:30 o'clock at the family residence and interment was made in the family cemetery near Athens in the presence of a large crowd of sorrowing relatives and friends.
Surviving him are three daughters, Mrs. Roe Quinn of Shreveport; Mrs. Eula Simpson and Mrs. O.S. Strohecker of this city; two sons, G.S. Atkins of Killgore, Texas and A.L. Atkins of Athens, and one sister, Mrs. Charlie Brown of Cotton Valley to whom friends extend condolence in their bereavement.
