Mrs. Martha was born Jan. 17, 1911 in Oakland City, IN. to Albert Orville Bennett and Blanche Gardner Kightly Bennett.
She was a 1928 graduate of Caruthersville High School, a 1930 graduate of Caruthersville Junior College and a 1932 graduate of the University of Missouri. After graduation, she taught at the Caruthersville High School until her marriage to Harold S. Jones on August 8, 1936. After marriage, they resided in Caruthersville where Mrs. Martha devoted her life to her husband and family. She was highly active in and devoted to her Church. She enjoyed bridge, PEO, playing piano and signing in the Church Choir. She loved family visits and being with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Shortly after the death of her husband in November 1996, she moved to Rochester, MN where she resided for the past 10 years.
Mrs. Martha is survived by her daughter, Jane Ellen Jones Kossman and her husband Harold; her son, Lee Bennett Jones and his wife Vera; four grandchildren, David Kossman, Mark Kossman, Jill Kossman Bickett and David Jones; seven great-grandchildren and a multitude of other relatives and friends.
Funeral Services were held Friday, May 14, 2010 at Eastwood Memorial United Methodist Church with Rev. Jim Coffer and Doctor Paul Currie officiating. Burial was held in the Little Prairie Cemetery in Caruthersville. Memorial were preferred to Eastwood United Methodist Church.
