December 2~ 1952 in Harlem, New York to Harold and Pearlie
Todd. She graduated from Julia Richmond High School in 1970.
She went on to attend Herbert H. Lehman College, and obtained
her Bachelor of Arts degree in 1978. She continued her education
and obtained her Paralegal studies degree which enabled her to
work as a Paralegal Supervisor in the New York State Attorney
General's office.
Sylvia married Reginald (Rick) Potter, her childhood sweetheart
and best friend. This union blessed them with six children: Jamien,
Kiamesha, Rahsaan, Titus, Reggie and Reggina. Each one was the
joy of her life! Their children blessed them with six grandchildren:
Anton, [amiek, Jalen, Jamien II, Rahyn D'Nice, and Titus, Jr.
Sylvia's husband, children, and grandchildren were her life,
nothing meant more.
Sylvia's other joys were her love for shopping, traveling and
going on cruises. Sylvia traveled to several countries and islands in
the Caribbean where she shopped at every port of call.
Sylvia leaves to cherish her memories: her devoted husband,
Reginald "Rick" Potter; four sons, Jamien, Rahsaan, Titus and
Reggie; two daughters, Kiamesha and Reggina. "Ima", as she
affectionately called by her grandchildren, Anton (Boomer), Jamiek
(Air), Jalen (J.J.),Jamien II (Lil Jay), Rahyn D' Nice (Sugar Mama)
and Titus, Jr. (TJ, G-Son); and, their parents, Anton Sr., Nicole,
Desiree, Linda and Danessa and Deandre whom she also loved
and cared for; her mother, Pearlie Todd-Urquhart; her father-inlaw,
William Lawrence Potter, Jr.; one grandmother-in-law, Helen
Jones of Charleston, South Carolina; four brothers, George, Cecil,
Calbert and Derek; four sisters, Cynthia (Leroy), Bernetta
(Donovan), Camille (Rodney) and Thora; one sister-in-law, Tina
(Robert); two aunts, Lucille and Christine of Newark, New Jersey;
four aunts-in-law, Ophelia and Teena of New York, Pearl of
Charleston, South Carolina and Margie of Charlotte, North
Carolina; three uncles, Bruce Braynen of Nassau, Bahamas, David
Eagleton of Leesburg, Florida and Ray McHenry of Canton, Ohio;
two uncles-in-law, Richard and Irving of Charleston, South
Carolina; and twenty-seven nieces and nephews; twenty-one
grandnieces and nephews; one great-grandnephew; and a host of
