Notes on Bawnlea from the internet: Bawnlea is 259 acres, and is sort of "lumpy-lozenge shaped", a mile and a half at its longest (NE-SW) and about a half mile wide. The Grange to Commons road runs through the western third of the townland and, based on the aerial photography for the map in 1973, there were about a dozen buildings in the townland at that time - all of them along a half-mile stretch of this road. There also appears to be an isolated possible building in the eastern part of the townland, and there is a track shown on the map which approaches it. Booleying hut? It looks as if the highest elevation in the townland, Knocknamuck, is also the highest elevation in the Slievardagh Hills - over 1100 feet.
