Charles Stewart Ison, 75, died at 5:30 Friday evening, October 1, 1943, after a long period of declining health. He was a prominent and highly esteemed farmer in Mercer county, successful in the his enterprises, but he retired several years ago owning to his health and moved from his home on the Lexington road, to this residence on Lexington avenue. He was the son of Zachary Taylor Ison and Eliza Jenkins Ison and was born September 18, 1868. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Ella McFatridge Ison, one son, Louis Francis Ison, one granddaughter, Nancy Ellen Ison, two sisters, Mrs. John Champion, near Shakertown; Mrs. L. P. Hopkins Norwood, O., seven brothers, John and Henry Ison, of Burgin; Hugh Ison, near Dix Dam; J. S. and Frank Ison, of Harrodsburg; Sam Ison, Bohon; James Ison, of California. The funeral was at 3 p.m. Sunday at the Harrodsburg Baptist church, of which he was a member, conducted by his pastor, Dr. G. Whitcomb Ellers. Burial in Spring Hill cemetery with his six brothers residing here acting as pallbearers. Honorary bearers were Floyd Watts, Loman Watts, George Bond, Joe Vaught, Sr., J. T. Ingram, Glave Vivion, Gilbert Isham, R. L. Cull, Andrew Alexander, H. R. Barrick, W. B. Morris, Howard Lacefield, J. K. Powell, all deacons in the Harrodsburg Baptist church, and also Charles Jenkins and Gilmore Teater.
