Leslie Dean Satter was born Aug. 22, 1939, at his aunt Olga and uncle Jack Irey's home in Friberg Township, the son of Arnold and Edna (Jorgenson) Satter. Les attended country school District #156S from 1945 to 1952, and Pelican Rapids High School from 1953 to 1957, graduating in 1957. He served in the U.S. Army from April 1963 to May 1965.
In 1969 Les began farming with his cousin, Vic, in the rural Pelican Rapids area and was also employed for 23 years at Walt Boe's Market, Strand Ace Hardware and Park Region Co-op. On Jan. 28, 1977, Les married Jean Nelson at his brother and sister-in-law's home in Dent.
Les will be remembered as a kindhearted person, always willing to help someone, and never having a bad word to say about anyone. He was always ready to tease.
He enjoyed spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. He loved watching his nieces and nephews grow up, making each one feel special. Les was an avid Minnesota Vikings fan and thoroughly enjoyed watching the games with his wife, Jean, son, Derek, and friend, Earl. Les also enjoyed classic country music, playing cards and taking care of his yard. Les was a member of Central Lutheran Church.
Les was preceded in death by his grandparents; parents; sister, Judy Satter; father-in-law, Almer Nelson; two brothers-in-law: Rodney Hovden and Richard Nelson; and sister-in-law, Gail Satter.
