Jimmy Lee Tompkins


Services for Jimmy Lee Tompkins, 61, of Tyler, are scheduled for 10 a.m. Thursday in the chapel of Burks Walker Tippit Funeral Home with the Rev. Roy Thoene officiating. Burial will be in Concord Cemetery near Chandler.

Mr. Tompkins died on Monday, June 14, 2010, in Tyler. He was born March 1, 1949, in Tyler. He lived all his life in Tyler, was a driver for Ruan Logistics and a member of First Baptist Church in Gresham. He was preceded in death by his father, Hubert Lee Tompkins, and a sister, Carolyn May Tompkins.

Survivors include his wife, Vivian Tompkins of Tyler; mother, Evelyn Tompkins of Noonday; two sons and daughters-in-law, Chris and Kristi Tompkins of Jacksonville and Dustin and Stephanie Tompkins of Alvin; stepson, Shane House of Fairfield; three stepdaughters and their husbands, Robbin and Bubba Wooldridge of Newcastle, Tammy and Robbie Boyd of Breckenridge and Stacy Pillow of Newcastle; 16 grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers will be Chris Tompkins, Dustin Tompkins, Shane House, Martin Vallance, Tony Boyd and Sammy Tompkins.

Family will receive friends at the funeral home from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday.
