My great grandfather, Charles Sumner Wing was a member of the New Bedford, MA Fire Department, spending much of his career at Station #4 at the corner of Bedford and South Sixth Streets.
Charles died on duty while manning an overnight signal company detail at the main headquarters on Purchase Street; July 7, 1918.
