Frederick served as a Private, Company K, 1st Delaware Infantry during the Civil War.

He enlisted in the 1st Delaware on October 16, 1861 for a 3 year term. He was noted, at the time of his enlistment, as being 27 years old, light complexion, light hair, 5' 8", blue eyes, a cook, and residing in Sussex County, Delaware.

Frederick was "Killed In Action" at Marye's Heights at the Battle of Fredericksburg during the war.
