Mansfield, LA - Services for Mrs. Julie Lawhon Evans, 53, will be held, Friday, July 16, 2010 at 11 AM at Rose-Neath Funeral Home Chapel in Mansfield, LA. Officiating the service will be Father Michael Millard. Interment shall follow in St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery in Rambin. The family will receive friends Thursday, July 15, 2010 from 5-8 PM at Rose-Neath Funeral Home in Mansfield, LA.

Mrs. Evans was born October 24, 1956 in Amarillo, Texas, and passed away on Tuesday, July 13, 2010 following a courageous battle with cancer.

Julie graduated from Byrd High School in 1975. She also graduated from Northwestern State University School of Nursing in 1978. Julie enjoyed a long and successful 30 year career as a Registered Nurse specializing in Adult Oncology. Julie cared for her patients compassionately, devoting her heart and mind fully to the care of each patient. Her love for them was as unique and special as their love for her. "A job well done thy good and faithful servant".

Julie is survived by her parents William and Patsy Lawhon, husband Dr. Jeffrey Evans, whom she married on July 31, 1982; beloved daughters Rachel Evans Maggio and Dabney Evans, son-in-law Brandon Maggio, grandson Tristan Maggio, sister Darla Stroud, brother-in-law Randy Stroud, adored niece Christa Stroud, and numerous much-loved nieces, nephews, sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, cousins, aunts and uncles.

Julie devoutly loved Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior, trusting Him completely with her heart, mind, and soul. Her favorite Bible verses included The 23rd Psalm and the 114th Psalm. She was a member of Christ Memorial Episcopal Church. Thank you Father Michael Millard and Reverend Kay Hunter for your prayers and support.

Julie cherished time with her family and friends, adored her precious dogs, enjoyed vacation time at the beach, and loved to work in her garden.

Julie's family members would like to express their heartfelt thanks for the outpouring of love and support received throughout her illness. A special thanks to the community and to her medical team including Dr. Gary Burton, Dr. Turturro, Dr. Nanda, Dr. Baluna, Andrea Breaux, Dr. Dillard, Dr. Leggio, Dr. Doug Sawyer, Dr. Dennis Kamberov, Dr. Micah Day, Lauri Eubanks, Tony Paul, Nell Norwood, Debbie Craig, Diane Stutts, Cindy Murphrey, Carrie-Joe Muton, Shirley Washington, Cleo Alexander, Kathy Simmons, Melissa Hessew, Dr. Evans' patients & staff, the Maggio family, and Lorena Puac. Staff at LSU Health Science Center, Feist-Weiller Cancer Center, DeSoto Regional Health Systems, Superior Hospice, and Mansfield Drug Store, and last but not least, our heartfelt thanks to the many unnamed friends and family who sent prayers, visited, brought food, and loved our cherished Julie Ann.

Honoring Mrs. Evans as Pallbearers are Jeremy Evans, Beau Litton, Brandon Maggio, Randy Stroud, John Evans and Gary Evans. Honorary Pallbearers will be Dr. Ben Leggio, Dr. Leigh Dillard, Dr. Dennis Kamberov, Dr. Micah Day, Dr. Doug Sawyer and Lester O'Key.
