Clayton F. Baker Sr., 64, of Syracuse, died Saturday at Community General Hospital following a brief illness. Born in Utica, he was the son of the late Kenneth and Delsie Schumacher Baker. He retired from Lamson Corp. following 27 years of service as a machinist and inspector. He was a very active member of AA Columbus Park. He enjoyed his family, traveling, beaches and golf. He was predeceased by his sister, June Menard, in 2008. Surviving are his son, Clayton (Georgia) Baker Jr. of Brewerton; two daughters, Valerie (Tim) Costello of Kirkville and Danielle (Ryan) McGhee of Syracuse; a sister, Darlene Schlitt of Cortland; seven grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. Services will be 10 a.m. Thursday at New Comer Funeral Home, 705 N. Main St., N. Syracuse. Burial will be in Woodlawn Cemetery. Calling hours will be 4 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
