ANOTHER OLD RESIDENT DIES-

Joshua W. Tibbets, an old resident of Table Rock, passed away at his home on Thursday, January 26, aged 81 years, 7 months and 14 days.

For many years Mr. Tibbets was a resident of Table Rock, although not a continuous resident for he lived in many places after his first coming to Table Rock his longest residence being at Pratt, Kan., where he lived for a number of years when he came back to Table Rock to help look after his brother, O. D. Tibbets. He has been an invalid for a number of years and was bedfast most of the time during the past two years. For some months it was known he could not get well, but he always thought he would and that made him hopeful and cheerful. He leaves a widow and one son, the latter living in Oklahoma.

Funeral services were held in the Christian church in this city by Rev. Thomas Russell, who had been almost his constant companion during his last weeks of illness. Interment was in the Table Rock cemetery. The widow, now alone, has the sympathy of the community in her sorrow.

Joshua Wilson Tibbets, the fifth child of Moses Tibbets and Cassie Nickelson Tibbets, was born in Indiana on June 12, 1851. He died at 5 p.m. January 26, 1933. The Tibbets family moved west into Missouri and later into Nebraska.

Joshua spent much of his time in Table Rock, but having a rambling disposition, he worked in Kansas, Arkansas, Texas,, and Missouri and Colorado and probably other states. At one time he was interested in a butcher shop in Table Rock. However he thought of himself as a painter by trade.

About 35 or 40 years ago he was baptized and united with the Christian church at Table Rock. He was a charter member of the K.K.K. in Pratt.

On October 15, 1913, he was united in marriage to Martha Elizabeth Wilson at Pratt, Ks. To this union no children were born. However she has been his constant companion to his death.

B. O. Tibbets, a son by a previous wife, is the only known living child. He lives in Drumright, Okla.

There are many nephews and nieces and eight grandchildren, besides two sisters-in-law, but none of them have been here during his closing days.

"Uncle Josh". as he was known about Table Rock, has been sick for years. The last four years have been years of suffering and uncertainty. He continually hoped to recover, but his closing words were, "Martha, I hate to leave you but I am going to Heaven." He then became unconscious and quietly passed away.
